Amsterdam City Camp

Amazing graffiti close to the campsite

Date of Stay March 27th to 29th: What a great stop Amsterdam City Camp is for motorhomes (location on the map below).  Okay, it is in the middle of some derelict docks currently being ‘regenerated’ and is basically a fenced off car park but it has a great deal going for it.  You cannot book in advance, it has a very easy to use self service check in where you pay on entry and receive a barcoded ticket which lets you in and out.  Very securely fenced in and entry by electric gates only makes you feel secure and there is electricity if you need it.

It’s a less than 10 minute walk to a free ferry (runs every 15 minutes) which 10 minutes later lands you at the central station with easy access to all the main tourist sites.  In one very full day walking round the city we managed to see Anne Franks House (NB Book tickets in advance), the National Jewish Holocaust Memorial Museum, the World War II Verzetsmueum and finish with a guided Pizza cruise on the canals.

Floating Motel Near the Free Ferry Point – the red letters are rooms as well!
