All Good Things

September 27th to 29th 2017: The first of our final two stays of the tour would be at Lunenburg – where we had stayed before (see this blog post from 2014) which we wanted too see again as we had spent so little time there.  It was also a second chance to see Blue Rocks which we had only seen in semi-darkness and mist the last time we were there.

A couple of images…

Just a glimpse of the amazing views at Blue Rocks

And the wonderful colours of Lunenburg which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

And secondly to our last stay at Murphys Camping By The Ocean – rated one of the top 10 campsites in Canada and again, we had stayed there before in 2014.  This is one of the friendliest sites you could wish to visit and they lay on a communal campfire and serve up mussels straight off the fire every evening.  A shame that the weather meant we only managed the campfire experience the first evening.

They gave us a terrific spot and the 30 second YouTube Video below gives you a good idea of our view.

6am Murphys By The Ocean – our final departing view as we head off to the docks

So, a very early start on September 29th to head off to the forwarding agents in Halifax, just over an hour away.  Paperwork has to be completed and the motorhome delivered to the docks before 11:30am and they only accept vehicles Monday to Friday.  We had a bit of a panic as the LPG tanks must be empty and we spent the last evening with heating and cooker burners full on plus the LPG generator all going full pelt – we got there in the end but we were still burning gas off first thing in the morning.

The forwarding agents was a great experience compared to Antwerp (see this post) partly because language wasn’t a problem and mainly because Seabridge had already sent all the necessary paperwork through.  I literally handed over C$150 and received my shipping document to take to the docks.

A 15 minute drive to the docks and we were led in to park and they checked over the vehicle.  The motorhome is left unlocked for entry but they have only the ignition key.  We retain all locker door keys and internal keys (we have an internal locked door to the rear of the vehicle where anything that could ‘walk’ is secured away).

The vehicle ships back to Liverpool (takes 6 days apparently) and I should be collecting it the week after next.

Monday will see us fly home and “that, said John, is that!”

My final post for this trip will be a summary of the highlights and the various stats and costs for the tour.

What a trip!
