“Good friends don’t have to visit each other every day” – Juan Manuel Santos
July 11th and 12th 2017: We camped in the state park ‘Big Trees Calaveras – they really do these parks well out here. No electric at this one, just dry camping but a great setting in amongst the trees as you can see. Absolute quiet and darkness at night with the promise of maybe seeing a bear, unfortunately (?) we weren’t that lucky.
The trip up from Morro Rock took us almost back into Yosemite as we went through a tiny place called Arnold and into the park. Why? Well, to catch up with someone I hadn’t seen in 13 years and spend the day shooting the breeze by the river – which is exactly what we did as you can see below. Great spot, the water was very cold but the company was good. Worth the time and effort.
The change of plans plus this side trip to catch up with an old friend has meant we have criss crossed Southern California more than we intended but it was worth it. You can see the tracks we have made below and we have now travelled just over 7,000 miles on this road trip…
The tracker is available here if you wish to track us more closely.
We are now in Santa Rosa and starting to head North to Portland.
