Date of Stay: April 29th to May 3rd 2016 As I write this on April 2nd, we are the only unit on this lovely little site tucked away about 2 miles from the A1 and around 3 miles South of Berwick upon Tweed. Small toilet block, electric hook up, a few hard standing as well as plenty of grassy areas, what is not to like?
Very quiet just outside the village of Ancroft with a lovely 11th Century Norman Church where we were allowed to go up the tower and onto the roof to enjoy the view out to Bamburgh and beyond.
This is a Camping and Caravan Club Members only site and it was £20 per night, From here we visited Alnmouth – one of the best places to spend a day parked up by the beach in Northumberland (shame they don’t allow overnight stays), the amazing Barter Books in Alnwick (park in Lidl just a short walk to the bookshop),and the incredible Lindisfarne causeway, castle and priory (see photo below). Northumberland remains one of England’s best kept tourist secrets for sure.
