Basildon Park

Basildon Park January 9th 2016: Another great stop in a motorhome at Basildon Park.  A little tight getting in and out but large parking area so no problems finding somewhere to slot in.  We had forgotten our NT cards but they were able to look us up on their till. Lovely grounds, house and gardens which must be beautiful in the summer.  We availed ourselves of soup and a roll followed by coffee and cookies.

All the staff here were really friendly and helpful even offering to let us ‘out the in’ if we thought it was a bit tight getting out the other way.  Definitely worth a visit and very close to the friends we were visiting in Streatley.

We often ‘stop off’ during the day at National Trust properties as many do offer easy parking and are great for a quick lunch or an afternoon tea.  However, once or twice we have got into severe difficulties with narrow entrances and driveways and very steep approaches.  So, shortly I will publish a page on the site with map markers for the ones we have visited that are easy to access and I hope this will be a useful resource for people which I will build over time.
