Date of Stay July 16th 2014 We stayed at the municipal campground at the top of this UNESCO World Heritage site. This place is literally ‘picture book’ and has seen the filming of many great movies as a back drop.
When booking in we asked for a restaurant recommendation. They couldn’t give one because as the municipal site, they could not be seen to favour any particular place. They pointed us in the right direction and we did find a great restaurant where we sat on the balcony and enjoyed the view and for me, another lobster dinner!
Is Nova Scotia the friendliest place we have ever been to? Having taken a horse and trap ride to view the town and complaining to ourselves about the walk back up the hill to the campground, the guy operating the horses offered us a lift in his car.
When we got in the car he asked us how long we were staying, ‘one night’ we replied. He then insisted that we could not miss seeing Black Rocks and he would transport us there himself and let us take as many pictures as we wished. An hour later we had seen some of the most amazing scenery, taken many photos and been returned to the door of our RV. He would not accept a penny or even my offer of a crate of beer we weren’t going to finish. He said he was simply delighted that we had chosen to come to NS and if we thought they were friendly then we should try Newfoundland next time for the ultimate in hospitality.
What an amazing experience.

Here is just one photo from that car journey.
