Hughenden – no parking

You will know that I am a big fan of National Trust properties for day parking and breaking a journey.  Unfortunately, this one, Hughenden, I found to my cost, is not one for a vehicle much bigger than a car.

I perhaps should have guessed from the very narrow single track entrance but there was no indication that it would be not only single track all the way to the car park, it is up an extremely steep hill, cars had filled the coach park and there were no staff in attendance to sort out a major traffic jam as the parking was absolutely packed.  It took 20 minutes to get round the car park during which time I could smell my clutch burning as i moved backward and forward to negotiate some very tight bends lined with trees.

As far as i can see, there are no signs indicating that long vehicles should enter at their peril.  So, much as it looks like a great visit, take care if you decide to enter.
