Chatsworth Caravan Club Site Baslow

chatsworthDate of Stay Feb 7th to 9th 2014: Organised CC site or not, this is a spectacular setting by the River Derwent. Plenty of room with all pitches hard standing.  According to the website it was fully booked but a phone call later and there was no problem. There were many empty pitches but that may have been due to the wet weather.
Well organised (of course) it is a great location and you receive a key to let yourself through a gate into the Chatsworth Estate. There look to be a couple of nice places to eat in Baslow and if you are up for a 20 minute walk then that’s the way to go.
Beware, postcode takes you to the house not the CC Site – still, a very friendly lady at the car park redirected me. The location of the site is easy to see on Google Maps.
If you like the Peak District (and who wouldn’t ) then this is a great place to start.  It is a site I have been meaning to visit for ages but has always been full.
By the way, the new WiFi options at the CC sites represent good value for money although you can only get about 1 meg download speed it is fine for a bit of surfing and email. You can now pay a one off £29 and use it for a year or there are daily and weekly options.
