Perigrueux.jpgDidn’t quite stay: August 4th Spotted this Aire by the water in our ‘all the aires’ book and looked ideally situated in a car park by the river and in the town unfortunately, our book is a couple of years old and the Aire is no more.  Or to be more precise it is no more by the river. The local council have built a brand new purpose built Aire a little further out of town. Very neat and tidy but a bit squashed and not what we wanted so we drove on just around another 10km to stop at Chateau L’Eveque (reviewed here).  The new Aire is very well signposted amd easy to find but just wasn’t what we fancied.

The cathedral at Perigrueux is well worth a visit and there are a host of good little eateries all around that area.  We were fortunate to be there on a quiet Sunday in terms of abandoning the vehicle in the car park.  In the map below the old Aire  (now parking) and the new Aire are both shown.
NB Whilst you can still park in the old ‘car park Aire’ there are very definite signs forbidding staying amd pointing out the new Aire plus other signs threatening other forms of death and destruction for vehicles over 4.8m in length. Onward then to Chateau L’Eveque.
