Iznajar Blues

The Blue Cafe

The Blue Cafe

Date of Stay June 2013 Iznajar is a stunning town plastered all over the side of an unbelievably steep hill above a lake. It was a 10 euro taxi ride from our site to the top of the hill and definitely recommended. At the top of the hill you will find not only amazing views too many to count but also a beautiful ‘blue cafe’ complete with fountain and flowers making a picture perfect coffee stop.  Once refreshed, a slow walk down the hill at leisure taking in the views and the churches is an extremely pleasant experience and you can admire just how fit the inhabitants of Iznajar must be when you see all the shops at the top of the village!  They should all be marathon runners or power walkers in the Olympics.  The cemetery at the top of the village is also definitely worth seeing if you have the time.  Not like anything we have in England that’s for sure and when you think you have seen it, take a look over the edge and see there is much much more of it extending down the hill.

The campsite (again with deference to Andalusia Detours you need to work this out for yourself) is beside a lake which would normally have a beach but on our visit the water was all the way up to the edge. It was an interesting campsite with just nine Motorhome spaces in total but with 6 electric points on each pitch but no water tap and with a cassette emptying point on every other pitch – slight design fault!  I think the designer was smoking something when he drew up the plans.

Absolutely recommended for a visit.
