El Chorro – bit of a chore

Date of Stay 3rd and 4th June: Why a chore? Because we couldn’t get our 30 foot vehicle in through the gate and up the slope! We managed to ground the vehicle with a wheel down a gulley half way up a very steep slope. All was well that ended well and we finished up parking beside the river outside the campsite for two nights. They didn’t seem bothered. Slight whiff of drains every now and then and a hum of a hydro electric station but overall didn’t detract from a great spot. There is an amazing walk up the mountain – around 4Km in total with spectacular views across the gorge and the railway bridges linking Malaga and Cordoba.

The site itself has a pool and is popular for school parties so expect quite a bit of noise. Didn’t bother us as we were outside!

I am not giving the campsite name as this is part of Andalusia Detours route so you need to do a bit more work yourself.

Really enjoying your reports especially as a know a little about the area (never with our van though in that area). Keep up the good work I look forward to receiving new updates in hope of following your footsteps at some point in the future, thanks Phil.
