Rudding Park Bonfire Night

Didn’t set us alight I’m afraid.  Date of stay 2nd and 3rd November.  OK, so the grandchildren enjoyed it but as an autumn stop it was expensive (£47) for two nights, cramped (couldn’t swing a cat between vans) and very muddy (can’t blame them for the weather).  At night much of the street lighting was turned off and it was pitch black – such that I tripped over taking one of the grandchildren with me.  Also, they had removed the hot taps in the washing up areas which didn’t please me when it came time to clean the BBQ.

They made a good bonfire but the fireworks that followed were definitely a damp squib  – 10 minutes and it was all over bar the walk back in the dark to the vans.  Definitely a budget affair which was a shame considering the park was full.  I guess we can put this in part down to a reflection of the state of the UK economy in general but the park was busy.
Altogether, for such a pretty place with a super golf course, lovely hotel and restaurant adjacent, it felt very over rated with too many corners being cut on costs.  Then again, neither of us are as keen on sites as organised as this but I would have preferred to have been on a CC site for the weekend which would have been equally organised but definitely more room and not so ‘mean’ on the facilities..
Hey Ho – we will make a better choice next year I am sure.
